Into a Fog

FogRug

Sleep will not come,
Not the usual variety .
Awake a fortnight,
Fatigue drags me deeper
Into a fog—
I like the fog .
Living in a cloud,
Relaxing more as it thickens,
An opaque barrier, soft .

Woolgather,
No longer conscious :
Magical ;
Floating away on weather
Into the troposphere,
Rising cold ;
Missing no one at all .

Mist on the undressed window :
Condensation—
Rain me down .
Not even the thunder wind,
Nor flashing bolts
Break the trance ;
Evaporation—
Another fogbank .

A transition from a large cosmic constant
With a tiny radius of curvature
To the future de Sitter dark energy
Emergent of the constant current ;  enormous,
The radius of curvature close to Hubble scale .

Flightless

MAGAhat

MAGA maggots like magnets
Glued to a rotting orange
Shriveling in rays of truth

Refuse to leave the refuse
Of dwindling fuel for squirming
Vermin, to dull to pupate

By option to navigate
To some other fallen fruit .
No .   these potential blowflies

Must dry in stench of this husk,
An inch from where the eggs hatched :
Flightless—the fate of this batch .

Folded Wolf

A Murderer in plain sight
Cannot be detected
Because they look like
Everyone .
Anyone .
But—they have killed
Someone .

Evidence is missed:
Flecks of dried blood
Under the fingernails,
A foreign hair woven
Into their own,
Their boarded–up existence
All glazed over .
Minutia .

The spin of the world,
The everyday
Ignores the clues ;
The murderer goes free .
Fits in .
Smiles .

Neighbors sleep well
Surrounded, content
In normalcy
Until a grisly discovery
Shatters the façade .

A shadow falls across
The town from the headlines,
Bold and dark .
