waft of the combed earth
ceremonial,
flourishing and bountiful be.
Salting the plow, hear my chant
within the field’s four corners:
bring forth golden crops;
broad barley, white wheat,
bright millet, and
windswept rye.
Out witchery and dark rot!
Safeguarded, produce
bright-bloom under
the blesséd light and rain.
